Just trying to Keep Up!

I can't believe I haven't writing anything since well before Christmas.  I feel like every day I'm just doing the basic stuff I need to do to keep up with life and it is keeping me so busy!  Ok, maybe not just the basic stuff - I am in the YW presidency, secretary to be more specific and it is filling all my non existent spare moments.

Anyway, Lauren turned 9 months last Monday and I haven't taken her picture or written about her yet.  I don't want to forget what she is doing right now so I decided I need to just write today and I will post pictures later this week.  For the past several weeks she has been getting so close to crawling.  She would get up on her hands and knees and then flop to her belly.  Finally she started taking a few crawls forward before flooping to her belly to reach what she wanted.  Now she is up to a lurpy sort of scooting crawl.  When she gets to the wood floor and can't really crawl on it very well out of frustration she she gets off her knees and up onto her hands and toes.  She also FINALLY will eat food from a spoon!  I don't know what it was, but she didn't like anything that came on a spoon.  She has been eating Cherrios and yogurt melts and other freeze dried food for a while, but that was it.  Now we have opened up a new chapter in feeding and she is eating a lot more food.  We also had to kind of get tough on her with sleeping.  After coming home from our Christmas Vacation, she was used having us right there in the room and wanted to nurse several times to go to sleep.  So we moved Savana in with Canon for a couple of weeks and now she is a great sleeper and Savana is back in her own room and bed.

Now I just want to add a few things about Canon.  As always he makes my head spin when he is home.  He really does keep my busy in about 5 different ways just with his presence.  Lately he tells everyone that he is a super hero.  I think he honestly believes it.  He said that he tells people at school that he is a super hero and nobody will believe him.  Just to prove it he tells them two true stories.  One that he saved a shopping cart - yes, true.  He ran and saved it from hitting a car.  And two that he saved the bathroom stall and church.  Again, true - he had to climb under the bathroom stall and unlock the door.  Yes, we have had to clarify that this is not normal behavior, and I think I was only OK with him helping with this because it was the church bathroom.  Anyway - those are his superhero acts so far.  So yesterday I went into the bathroom and he had a set of bath tub measuring cups all set up on the counter with different concoctions in them.  He said he was making potions to give himself more super hero powers.  I got out of him that it was mostly toothpaste and water, but he had used some hair gel too.  Yes, I had to clarify that we don't drink hair gel or toothpaste for that matter.  So this evening while I was reading him stories, we were reading about wolverines, he told me all about what a scavenger does.  I said "Wow, Canon, you are really smart!"  "Yes", he said, "don't you remember that I made that power yesterday in the bathroom?"

Now I feel that I just need to round it out with a bit on Savana.  She really does have it great.  She can play so well with Canon and can be entertained by playing with the baby as well.  A lot of her day is spent helping me doing what I am doing, (which I love) or she can go off and play by herself.  But she does have her stubborn streak.  When she is in that mode, you have to let her do what she is doing, in her way and her time.  But I do love having her home with me.  I've already thought that I only have one an a half school years left with her home with me before she starts kindergarten.  I think when she goes to school I am really going to miss her.  Not that I don't love Canon too - but he needs to be kept busy at school :)
